The way forward, all by His grace

Life is not an emergency.

Oh, how I needed to be reminded of that.

With the past weeks’ haze situation on my weary shoulders, I came to realize that despite my awareness of the need to not succumb to the pressures around me, especially at work, I did – I did cave in to insecurities around me, and forgot to place my trust in Him alone. It took me about a week to let the dust settle down, and I thank God that the situation at work is a lot less unnerving now. Thank You, Lord, for Your grace and mercy.

It took a leaf – a very random brown crisp leaf that dropped into my bag – to remind me again of the need to slow down. June has honestly whizzed by, and many nights, I reach home, simply too tired to do anything else except wash up, snuggle and sleep.

No more, I remind myself.

After all, life is not an emergency.

It is not!

Life…is such a holy & amazing gift of grace and beauty, and I don’t want to lose all the moments – the moments that are gifts from my Creator, my Daddy-God.

1 Peter 3:12

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer,…”

So I savor my chocolate cake…mangosteen juice…and my quiet moments before daylight breaks through, and I take a moment (or three) to admire my neighbor’s plants.

And the blue sky dotted with cotton-candy clouds…an adorable Chow Chow, and today, had so much fun bringing dear Kaelyn to her first Sunday school! We really enjoyed His presence. 🙂

Truth sparkles. Because it is truth – truth from His Word that gives Life.

Truth that I hold dear.

“Lord, I’m amazed by You…

Lord, I’m amazed by You…

Lord, I’m amazed by You…

and how You love me.”

My heart sings for joy at His Word, and will keep singing – through the next hurdle that comes my way.

He is present with me in every moment of every day, and that’s how I move foward – with His truth that is such joy to remember!

The Father’s Love

When God repeats something, again and again…it would be so silly not to pause and have it all sink in.

Really let it sink in.

Really silly, because that would be taking His grace for granted, and I hope not to do that…

We just came back from our church’s tribe retreat – a very lovely one at Pulai Springs, JB. Lush greenery, good friends, and God’s comforting presence. Such a privilege to take a trip there, especially thankful since the haze situation over here in Singapore has been awful.

God is good, and He has been so good – repeatedly, patiently affirming the message of Him being my Father – my dear Heavenly Father, my sweet Daddy-God…several times, even before the trip. It was as if He knew I needed it to be THAT clear. [And yes, I did, Lord.]

Few mornings ago, stumbled onto this song which has been playing in my home ever since – A Father’s Song. I can listen to this 64657869 more times, and still have my heart wrenched in brokenness and deep, deep gratitude.

The night before our trip, after we packed our bags, I dug out emails in a bid to clear them. And this touching video of God’s Love Letter was emailed to me by my dear Daddy – read His Love Letter to you too?

Imagine reading this same love letter from God during one of the workshops we attended last evening?? His message couldn’t be clearer.

God is not just God, but He is my FATHER. The very source of love, for God = love.

And in Him, I trust.

If one [glorious] day, you decide to invite this wonderful Heavenly Father into your life too, you can use THIS PRAYER as your platform to do so. God bless you with His perfect love. 🙂

God’s grace

Two movie tickets to Man of Steel.

I didn’t know who the uncle was, I was simply told that he was looking for me.

Beaming, he handed me these 2 bright yellow tickets, saying that he just got them from his company today and didn’t want to have them go to waste. It was for the very night. It was so sweet of him, so I assured him that it’ll go to the right hands.

Well, we asked a few students. Called a few parents. But it wasn’t to be.

Feeling puzzled, I asked God to reveal who exactly these 2 tickets were for. What is Your agenda, God?

Went back to my desk, left it to His timing to unravel…and unravel He did.

When God works, it is not just beautiful, it is PERFECT.

Through a chat with a colleague from another department, we decided on this 13 y.o. boy, as well as his cell leader, so that his Mum would feel assured that there’ll be adult supervision. Mum said yes! A sweet miracle to us since she is usually extremely strict and reluctant.

I had already planned to travel to Vivo City that evening to purchase some toiletries, so since the movie was also at Vivo, I brought him there. Along the way, we’d such a good time chatting on the train-ride about his school, his friends, and God’s goodness.

This boy rejected my offer to buy him dinner, and insisted on paying on his own. He ate McDonalds happily, offering me his fries. My heart smiled, looking at how delighted he was. The cell leader, a friend of mine, rushed down after work. He thought of buying some popcorns to share, but they decided to enter the movie theatre first.

The next day, the boy excitedly shared that when they reached their seats…they found two sets of popcorn & drinks already waiting for them, right at their seats!

Wow, how good is our Lord!

Two yellow pieces of paper.

Two children of His, deeply loved & blessed.

God’s grace has indeed been abundant in my life this year…and as I reflect on days past, there’s always something to give thanks for.

Moments of Gratitude

Life has moved a lot faster than I can blog. Days spent at work, at the hospital, with loved ones at gatherings, and when we can, Bren and I try to spend some time together resting at home or having nice meals outside. Moments of respite, and moments that stir up gratitude in my heart.

Too tired to write more, but here’s a glimpse into my past weeks… 🙂
