What’s your Fragrance?

The whole house smells like one big fat strawberry right now.

Such nostalgia…

I remember as a teen really enjoying the scent of strawberries – strawberry essential oil, strawberry scrubs & washes, strawberry-scented lotions. You probably have figured out by now that I really, really liked the red berry.

It’s amazing how smells transport you to another time of your life just by a mere whiff. Strawberry scents instantly bring me back to the days of Junior College…those days of a different season, and days without my good Lord.

How thankful I am now that though I may not smell as sweetly as I did back then (haha), the fragrance of the Lord is with me.

2 Corinthians 2:14

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

May you have a really sweet rest of this week~!

Everyday Grace

A really sweet friend recently shared on how reading this blog has ministered to her (hi YL!), and I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by His grace of it all.

How can a rumbling of thoughts, a jumble of words, a whisper of utterances…minister in such a way that touches someone? Only by His grace and purpose.

I used to blog a lot more often. When I first started (at Livejournal; wow, those were the days), it could be a daily affair or sometimes even more. I would look forward to meeting the friends made online, catching up with their lives, and recording mine down simply for the sake of memories, and because the joy of sharing is so contagious.

Years have passed, and right now, I’m at a place where I hope to only blog what matters to Him, what is directed by Him. For I’ve learnt over these years that words are extremely powerful, and even if it ministers to no one but myself, in reflecting & examining my days through this blog, may I grow in every aspect of my life…for His glory.

Every day, new mercies overflow into my life. Every day, a deeper step into intimacy with my Father. And every day, the grace that is more than sufficient for me carries me through streams of moments – the easy ones, the challenging ones…every moment is a gift, and counting my days with thanksgiving as the aim, is how I would hope to continue living.

I smile, as I turn back a little and look at August.

I pray that my heart will always be that of a child, depending on my Heavenly Father for guidance and strength, that by His grace, His love poured out to me will overflow into every relationship of my life, that I’ll remember that love assumes the best of others, and that the seemingly mundane, the tiny-tiny moments of daily routines…are a part of the gift of Life – Life abundant in Christ, and that I can choose to be content in every circumstance, in every situation…for Father, You are with me. 🙂

Long Weekend Break!

Journaled throughout this long weekend holiday break, and reflecting on it makes me so thankful for how it has turned out! Many around us have chosen to take a trip out somewhere, and to be honest, we initially hoped to do so too, however choosing to stay around to ensure that Bren’s uncle has us available if needed, was the right decision. A great break it has been!

6 Aug Tues

7:30pm Dinner at Bibigo, Raffles City: wonderful start to a long break.

7 Aug Wed

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

8:02am It’s a brand new morning! New day, new mercies from my loving Father-God. Looking foward to seeing how He unfolds my days…

Time to wake Bren up for breakfast! Croissant, yum.

8:33am Just had a quick chat with my grandma. So nice to hear her voice early in the day!

It’s Bren’s uncle’s birthday today, and we’ll be visiting him at the hospice tonight. Thank You, Lord for opportunities to spend time with our loved ones.

9:10am Okay! Have sufficiently looked into all work matters this morning. No more for the day. Must be an example of work-life balance for my team since it’s what I desire for them too.

12:55pm Just finished my TCM doc appt, and she advised to rest more and earlier too. Thankful that this is timely for this long break!

Isaiah 53:5 “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities – and by His stripes we are healed.”

9:35pm Just came back from our visit to Bren’s uncle. It was a special & lovely time celebrating his birthday, though he’d fallen asleep, most likely due to the cough med.

8 Aug Thurs

10:03am Wow, have not woken up this late in a long time. Feels good to be able to snooze and snuggle. Only forced myself out of the bed because my stomach was growling. Yay for breakfast!

11:51am One of Bren’s favorite thing to ask me is “What’s cooking doc?” No idea where he picked that up from, but I find it amusing. That also always means – time to cook!

Our lunch:

9 Aug Fri

8:13am Happy 48th National Day, Singapore! Came back past midnight yesterday after Day of His Power event, and was totally zonked out. It was such an awesome time gathered with believers from other churches just worshipping our good Lord!

Indeed, I pray for Singapore to be transformed and to rise up to be a nation that realises how blessed we have been, and be one that upholds godly values in the world of darkness. For in Him, we are truly victorious!

Oh Lord, have mercy on us…

Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.”

10 Aug Sat

7:30am Had such a happy time with Bren yesterday! Cleaned the house together, he got a haircut, and in the late afternoon, we headed to town.

Bought some stuff for Bren’s uncle and had dinner at Sukiya, Marina Square. We loved the beef and the sweet soup base, but both of us agreed that the place is more for youths that have never-ending stomachs. Our crazy stuff-your-face buffet days have long been over. 😉

Anyhow, we still made space for Coldstone desserts!

7:41am 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in hs body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

This has been dwelling in me for the past few days. Indeed, by his wounds I have been healed. He died so I could have healing! So I can be saved through Christ! Must stand firm on His Word and not be deceived.

Okay, got to squeeze in some time for household chores before heading off for half a day of work! Looking foward to clearing my emails. 🙂

1:59pm Waiting for Bren to pick me up to visit his uncle together. Meantime, let me think about what goals I can have for this 2nd half of the year..

9:08pm Had a great time visiting Bren’s uncle and bringing him out to feed the koi fish. So, so beautiful~! Thank God for volunteer pianists who served with sweet and relaxing music pieces too.

After the visit, headed to the east for dinner with family at Big Eater Restaurant. What a great Saturday!

11 Aug Sun

7:43am It’s raining! So nice to snuggle in. But it’s also nice (and wise) to wake up and do stuff, haha. Last day of this long break. Savoring every bit of it!

Isaiah 40:30-31 “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

May God give me the strength!

8:51pm Wonderful Sunday made extra sweet by my dear niece. Sigh, such an awesome blessing. Such a gift of joy for all of us!

Thank You, Lord for such a special and ministering long weekend break~!

Dinner @ Rokeby

Always nice to end a weekend on an extra-yummy note.

And tonight was really quite satisfying – black pepper steak + fish & chips + molton lava cake with ice-cream @ Rokeby, a small cafe that’s about 15 mins walk from our place. It was sis & BIL who recommended that place, so we decided to check it out. Turned out to be really good!

Letting Go & Embracing the New

It can be hard sometimes. Really, really hard…to let go, of what we’re used to, what we’re comfortable with, what has always been. But things happen, and people move…and as long as it is God’s move, changes will always turn out to be for the better – for His plans for me are perfect & wonderful. 🙂

On another note, am guest-posting at RantingChef again, and this time with one of my favorite soups – Herbal Chicken soup! This has to be one of the simplest recipes around, just that as with all good soups, simmering will definitely take a while. Pop over for a look!

Have a great weekend everyone! Let’s embrace the new…
